Raw Ceramic Table Lamp with Velvet Shade is a handcrafted table lamp defined by raw material presence and tactile contrast. The ceramic base is made from clay and left unglazed, preserving the natural, creamy tone of the material and its soft, matte surface.
The shade is cut from substantial cotton velvet and lined with linen, carefully hand-sewn to create a visually dense, sculptural presence. The construction directs light primarily downward, illuminating the surface below while letting the materials remain the focus of the form.
Each lamp is made by hand in small workshops in Poland. Subtle variations in the ceramic surface, stitching or seam alignment are the natural mark of handwork — they are what makes every lamp quietly unique.
Shade: 100% cotton velvet, lined with linen
Base: handcrafted ceramic, left unglazed (Ivory Clay), in the natural, creamy tone of the clay
Mounting: brass, finished in one of three ways — Lacquered Brass, Unlacquered Brass, or Patinated Brass
Lacquered Brass: preserves the warm golden tone indefinitely. A clear protective lacquer seals the surface, so the brass stays exactly as it was delivered — no oxidation, no darkening, no maintenance required beyond an occasional dusting. The most stable choice, and the right one for humid rooms or interiors where the lamp should look the same in ten years as on the day it arrived.
Unlacquered Brass: raw brass, with no protective coating — left to live. Over time the surface darkens and may develop uneven spots, mottling or freckles, particularly in humid rooms (bathrooms, kitchens, homes near the sea). The pace and pattern depend on the room itself — two identical lamps in two different homes will not age in the same way. This is not a defect; it is the intended life of unlacquered brass, the same finish used on antique candlesticks and the brass instruments of an orchestra. If you prefer the original golden tone, a brass polish will restore it. An object that ages with the room — and unlike any other.
Patinated Brass: hand-aged in our workshops to a deeper, time-worn tone from the start. Because the patina is applied by hand, each piece carries its own pattern of streaks, lighter and darker passages, the small irregularities of a hand-finished surface — no two are identical, and that is the point. Like Unlacquered Brass, Patinated Brass remains alive: the surface will continue to develop over the years, settling deeper into its tone.

Velvet shade: dust gently with a soft brush or a low-suction upholstery nozzle. Do not use water, soap or chemical cleaners — they can mark or crush the velvet pile. Velvet shades are not suitable for washing or wet cleaning.
Ceramic base: wipe with a soft, dry cloth, or a clean, lightly dampened cloth if needed. The glazed finishes are easy to wipe clean; the unglazed Ivory Clay is porous, so keep it away from staining liquids.
Brass: dust with a soft, dry cloth. For lacquered brass, no further care is needed; unlacquered and patinated brass continue to develop over time — a brass polish will restore the golden tone on unlacquered, while patinated brass should not be polished, as polishing removes the hand-applied patina.
Avoid placing the lamp in direct contact with steam or damp — moisture can affect both the velvet and the raw ceramic.
